Renjo La Gokyo Trek

Overview

The Renjo La Gokyo trek is an exhilarating journey through the breathtaking landscapes of the Everest region in Nepal. Starting from Lukla, trekkers navigate through Sherpa villages, lush forests, and rugged mountain terrain, eventually reaching the picturesque village of Gokyo. The highlight of the trek is crossing the formidable Renjo La Pass, standing at an elevation of 5,360 meters (17,585 feet), which offers panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu, among other towering peaks. As trekkers ascend to Gokyo, they are rewarded with the sight of the stunning Gokyo Lakes, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, providing a serene and tranquil atmosphere. A day spent exploring Gokyo and hiking to Gokyo Ri for sunrise or sunset vistas is a memorable experience, offering unparalleled views of the Himalayan giants reflected in the azure waters of the lakes.

Throughout the trek, trekkers encounter the unique Sherpa culture, passing through traditional villages adorned with prayer flags and Buddhist monasteries, where they can interact with friendly locals and learn about their way of life. The Renjo La Gokyo trek presents a moderate to challenging adventure, requiring good physical fitness and proper acclimatization due to the high altitude. However, the awe-inspiring beauty of the Himalayas, coupled with the warm hospitality of the Sherpa people, makes this trek a truly unforgettable experience for those seeking an immersive journey into the heart of the world’s highest mountain range.

My wife and I visited Nepal as a family with three children (ages 2,4 and 5) for 6 weeks. We had a wonderful time and great guidance from all the people of the organization. As from our arrival we were picked up at the airport and we were able to do a lot of things: Trekking for 8 days in Annapurna Region, visit Chitwan Nation Park, visit Kathmandu and the local school, trekking for 2 weeks in Solukhumbu region (Peaky peak trek) and with a stay of 6 days in the home village of most of the guides and closing in Bhaktapur. Special thanks to Tirtha(General Manager), Dawa(Guide), Ang dawa(Guide), Pasang and Phurdoma(Porter). I would truly recommend Bright way Trek.
